EDITOR SHASHIKUMAR PASSES AWAY

One of the reputed film editor of Kannada cinemas T Shashikumar passed away today in Bangalore. Winner of two state awards for ‘A’ and ‘Kanti’ Kannada films Shashikumar was in the camp as assistant in Puttanna Kanagal in the beginning days. He learnt the art of editing in Adyar Film Institute under Umanath. He worked for two years with Umanath and then moved to Malayalam films as independent editor.

T Shashikumar was ailing for some time aged 60 years. He leaves wife, son and daughter. The daughter of T Shashikumar has to reach from Mumbai for cremation.  Deepu S Kumar son of Shashikumar is also state award winning director.

Professionally a high graded editor Shashikumar worked as assistant in the camp of Puttanna Kanagal, Adoor Gopalakrishna, Geethapriya, Girish Karnad, TS Nagabharana and others.

Recognized in some of the Dr Rajakumar films T Shashikumar began his journey in Kannada from ‘Swarana Mahal Rahasya’. He worked for films like Om, A, Sagaradeepa, Neela, Indradhanush, Habba, Rakshasa and others.

T Shashikumar recent work is for ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’ that is yet to release. He worked with his established editor son Deepu S Kumar for this historical cinema.

Shashikumar won state awards for ‘A’ and ‘Kanti’ in 1998 and 2004.
